My best football memory has to be from one of my first visits to Hampden Park when I was a lad. In particular, the afternoon when Hearts beat Kilmarnock 1-0 in the 1962 League Cup Final. That was a day to really remember.

When John Cumming, the team skipper and the most decorated player in the history of the club, lifted the trophy for Hearts, my dad lifted me up just like the cup and said, ‘There will be many more days like this’.

“The next time Hearts won anything was when I took my father to the 1998 Scottish Cup final and we beat Rangers 2-1, only 36 years on, and sitting behind us that day was John Cumming.
