I think the reason I got into the Scottish Football Museum’s Hall of Fame is for scoring for Scotland against England at Wembley in 1977, an iconic moment in Scottish sport.

When you’re a young boy growing up you want to play for your country, you want to play against England, you want to play against England at Wembley, you want to beat them and you want to score against them. So for all that to come true in the one afternoon…. it was great.

I had great moments at Manchester United and Leeds United but all my best memories are Scotland ones. In 1975 Willie Ormond made me captain at 22 in Romania, and that’s possibly the proudest moment of my life.
