Paul Williamson

Wembley 1987, possibly one of the great FA Cup finals of all time – Coventry City v Spurs.

Singing Abide With Me before kick-off, or at least trying to; the roar at kick-off, the pandemonium and despair when the goals started to go in; the whole stadium singing a rude ditty at the dolly birds in the sponsors’ pitchside vehicles during half-time; the elation at the winning goal and full-time; being bear-hugged by an absolute giant of a bloke on the terraces (remember those?) and the night-long celebration.

What a day. What a night.
