Rob Hamilton

Wednesday March 16, 1983. Pittodrie. Aberdeen v Bayern Munich.

My Dad and I arrived 15 minutes before kick off and by that point it was standing room only – it was hoaching! OK if you are 6′ tall like my dad was, but not so good when you are 12 years old!

My Dad had the great idea of lifting me up onto the steel beams at the back of Pittodrie’s South Stand and from there I had the best view ever of the monumental 3-2 victory for the Dons.

Sadly my Dad, Robin Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday October 23 this year after a nine-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

He also played the great game professionally for St. Mirren and Cowdenbeath in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

He was my hero.
