As a boy of 15, I remember going to Boghead to see Dumbarton play Kilmarnock in a Scottish Cup quarter-final.

The year was 1976, just one step from playing at Hampden. The game was finely balanced at1-1 when, from a corner, big Jumbo Muir sent a diving header across the keeper into the top far corner of the net .

We were going to Hampden! I never thought i would see my team play in a semi-final there. What a feeling it was to be singing “We’re on our way to Hampden”.

Never to be forgotten.
